edible rose cake pops

these roses are in fact cake pops, i had the idea the other day to create an edible bouquet,
they are cake pops with sugar paste petals.
i used stems from faux flowers instead or Popsicle sticks to make them appear more realistic.
they would be great for mother day.

cake ball recipe makes 20 so half recipe if you want less

110g self raising flour
110g sugar
110g butter
2 eggs
 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
1/4 tsp salt

heat the oven to 180c 350f
cream the butter and sugar until pale, add the eggs one at a time then sift in the flour and fold in,
spoon batter into a cake pop mould i got mine from wholeport.com
fill them to the top and put the lid on and bake for 15 minutes.
Then let cool
place lolly pop sticks in cake balls
to make petals colour sugar paste or modelling chocolate pink.
take a small ball and roll out into a petal shape and add it to the ball pinching the middle to create a cone shape, then do the same again next to the first petal over lapping them slightly.
to stick the petals to each other brush the back of each petal with a little water.
add more petals continuing around in a circle, then start the next layer of petals, roll the tops of these out slightly,
then add another layer the same as before but open the petals out more.

you can add more petals if needed.

Unfortunately I cannot be even near this type of flowers-eating disorders, but I must say , it is amassing what you do . Good luck

  15. Just a "wondering" question. How long would you guess it takes you (who already knows what you are doing) to just do the petals on a cakeball? Absolutely stunning.
