west elm tortoise shell knock off

to make the tortoise shell
you will need a round piece of card, cut flaps in it like the photo and get some masking tape and bend the two side flaps together, tear up some paper and put some glue in a bowl and then paste the paper on to the card board with a paint brush. next mix up some wall compound i used exterior compound as that's all i had. then cover the whole thing with it, then use your finger or a clay tool and make a shell pattern on it.

i made a second one the same way but with clay instead and it turned out allot smoother, then i painted it white.
