how to make the macaroons
1. first preheat the oven at 160c/fan 140c or gas mark 3.
take the measured out ground almonds and icing sugar and put in a processor until fine, then sift into a bowl,
2. in a separated bowl. whisk egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form, then gradually add the caster sugar until it looks thick and glossy. at this point add your colouring i used pink.
3. fold half the almond and icing sugar into the mixture and mix well, then add the remaining half and use a spatula to cut and fold the mixture until its thick and shiny,
4. line two baking sheets with baking paper and pipe small mounds of the mixture on leaving gaps between so they don't run into each other.
5. lt stand at room temperature for 15 mins before putting in the oven, this forms a skin, dont miss out this step if you want to make perfect macaroons, but if you just want to make the chocolate bar then, its not as important.
6. bake in the oven for 15 mins, meanwhile, make the filling, whisk the softened butter, and icing sugar in a bowl until fluffy, i added pink food colouring, again, if you just want to make the chocolate bar you wont need filing.
