i went to the hobby craft store today and picked up some porcelain pens,
i went there with the plan just to look and not buy anything which i failed at lol, i have tried porcelain pens out before, but i just had a black pen not coloured ones and it was a different brand that you have to bake after 24 hours to fix it to the plate but with these you don't need to do that, i was surprised at all the colours which where available, i have eyeing up some pretty dinner plates at cath kidston and pip studios for a while, so i got out some of my cath kidston stuff for inspiration and drew some flowers on these plain white plates which were 50p each. these pens are by marabou and after 3 days they are completely dry and dishwasher safe, the possibilities are endless, i may do some bowls and cups with the same pattern, then i can take the dinner wear i wanted off my Christmas list (i no its only just September but yes i already have a list lol)

Aimee...I've looked at every porcelain pen I could find...and they all state that they are NOT foodsafe even after baking in the oven. Is this brand any different? I love making decorative plates...but I'm wanting to make my own dinnerware. Would love to know if you've found a brand that's safe with food!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... If only I drew this well then I would probably do too. These plates are adorable!!

Adorable project Aimee. The plates look so sweet. Thank you for sharing at Shabbilicious Friday.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you could do this! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow talented you are! The plates are lovely! I could never draw such pretty flowers, but maybe I could scribble free-form doodads... on plates for my little granddaughters... as long as they were unbreakable...!
