reclaimed fence wood made into sign

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

i found this piece of wood, it was an off cut that was being thrown away, so i grabbed it, i was with my mum at the time and she looked at me like i was mad lol, but i knew i wanted to make a rustic sign with it.
the 5 planks where nailed to a piece of wood at one end, so i nailed another piece at the bottom to make it succure.
then i painted it, i wanted it to be white but still look like wood so i dipped my paint brush in to white paint, and then i dipped it in to a glass off water and painted it on following the grain in the wood, this created a white wash look.
then i cut a stencil for the words on my silhouette machine, and stuck it on to the wood and painted black over the top, then i peeled it off.
next i did the arrows, i did in the same way but with white paint.  thats all it took.

  2. Your sign looks great and I love the salvaged plank look. I made a farmer's market sign but I think the next time I may just try one with planks.
